Covered visits often reset on January 1

Many health plans allow a set number of acupuncture visits per plan year. When the plan year rolls over — often on January 1 — any visits you haven’t used don’t carry forward. It’s worth checking your benefits before then and booking the visits you still have.

Before the reset

Check how many acupuncture visits your plan covers and how many you have used
Confirm when your plan year ends — for many plans it is December 31
Book your remaining visits before the reset

Acupuncture is generally an eligible expense for Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA). Many FSA plans also follow a use-it-or-lose-it deadline at year-end. Please confirm eligibility and deadlines with your plan administrator.
