Why weight is a whole-body question

Weight is an output, not a cause. Insulin resistance, an underactive thyroid, high cortisol from chronic stress, poor sleep, perimenopause and a gut that is not absorbing well all push weight up and make it hard to shift. Counting calories harder does not fix any of those. Our practitioners start by working out which of these is driving your pattern, so the plan targets the cause.

In Chinese medicine, weight gain is often read as a digestive and metabolic pattern: dampness, sluggish digestion or depleted energy. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine are chosen to support digestion and metabolism, steady appetite, and calm the stress eating that undoes good intentions.

Testing instead of guessing

Functional lab testing can show what is underneath: thyroid function, blood sugar and insulin, sex and stress hormones, nutrient status and gut health. The Wellness Compass scan gives a baseline of body composition and posture so progress is measured in more than the number on the scale. Results are reviewed with you and turned into a plan.

Nutrition that lasts

Our functional nutrition therapy and Chinese nutritional counseling focus on how to eat for your body and the season, how to steady blood sugar and appetite, and how to build habits that survive a busy week. There are no meal replacements or rigid rules. If you are using a weight loss medication or working with your physician, we coordinate with them and support the muscle, digestion and nutrition side of the picture.

“For years I blamed myself. The labs showed my thyroid and blood sugar were part of it. With the plan and the weekly sessions the cravings calmed down, and for the first time the changes have stuck.”
