Recovery that treats the whole chain

Sports medicine acupuncture combines Chinese medicine with orthopedic and movement assessment. We test the muscles and joints involved, then use acupuncture, including motor-point needling, to release tight tissue, restore muscle activation, calm the nervous system’s pain response and improve circulation to the injured area. Many athletes feel looser and move better after the first session; full recovery follows a course of care matched to the injury.

Around the needles we use what the injury calls for: cupping and gua sha to release fascia, Dragon Stick therapy for deep muscle work, Normatec compression to flush the legs after hard training, and red light therapy to support tissue repair.

Finding why it keeps happening

Repeat injuries almost always have a cause further up or down the chain: a hip that does not stabilize, an ankle that lost mobility after an old sprain, a shoulder blade that does not move with the arm. The ExBody postural and gait scan gives an objective picture of your alignment and loading, so we treat the source and not only the sore spot. Where posture is part of the story, we give you a few targeted things to work on between visits.

Who we work with

Runners with IT band, plantar fascia, shin and Achilles problems. Lifters with shoulder, elbow and low back strain. Golfers, tennis and racquet players with elbow and rotator cuff pain. Cyclists, swimmers and team sport athletes. Patients recovering from surgery alongside their physical therapist and physician. Anyone training for an event who wants to arrive healthy. If you are not sure your injury is a fit, call and ask.

“My hamstring had pulled three times in a year. The gait scan showed my hip was not doing its job. Between the acupuncture and the work they gave me I finished the marathon season without another strain.”
